Health Hazards of Too Much MSG

At a certain point in our lives, we are all bound to hear about some food choices that we should stay away from. The reason behind such suggestions is due to the fact that some food choices have elements that can trigger health hazards and other negative effects on health and wellness. Accordingly, some food choices may seem okay at the start but as time goes by, the regular consumption of such food choices would bring us harm. Indeed, this is an undeniable fact. Even during our youth, we have already been quite accustomed to the warnings made by adults as to the food choices that we should avoid. The said food choices are inclusive of those foods that have too much fats, cholesterol, salt, and even sugar. Indeed, there are health conditions and even chronic disorders that are inevitable tagged when over consumption of the said food choices take place. But aside from the said list, there are also some additives that we are being warned against using. One of the more common additives that are said to be bad for the health is MSG or Monosodium Glutamate.

If truth be told, MSG is quite common; almost everybody knows what MSG is. Aside from this, those people who are not aware of what MSG is are probably experienced with this food additive because admittedly, every meal, especially those that are prepared by other people like when we are dining out in restaurants and fast-food chains, are made with MSG. The reason behind this is the fact that food tastes better when MSG is added to it. According to reports and studies, MSG has a certain effect on the taste and quality of food – it enhances the taste of food and enables the quality of the meal to improve beyond compare. However, MSG is not really good news, especially when it comes to our health and wellness pursuits. In fact, we are advised against the use of this additive because it has been said that MSG is addictive. Moreover, MSG is also said to have certain elements that can damage our vital organs, specifically, our kidneys. Last but not the least, reports also reveal that MSG is quite fattening

To sum it all up, we daresay that MSG is not a food additive that we should indulge in for the reason that its health risks outweigh the fact that it enhances the taste of our meals. Sometimes, indulging in our favorite foods can be so satisfying, especially when we want to have a good time, or when we just want to reward ourselves for doing a significant thing for a particular day. This is a common practice for most people. The difference sets in when the indulgence in eating becomes overindulgence, to the extent that the individual already feels the irresistible urge to eat and to eat – and this is food addiction manifesting itself more or less purported through the ingestion of too much MSG.

For those people who are yet to be conscious of their food choices, we encourage these people to be wary of eating meals that they know contain MSG. MSG is bad news and it should not be consumed’ otherwise, irreversible effects on our health and wellness will be in tow. Our recommendations, thus, is to eat healthy foods that are devoid of such additives.
